Global War on Terrorism Memorial
The Global War on Terror (GWOT) is 18 years old. It is, far and away, the longest war in US history. In this story for the Black Rifle Coffee Company’s COFFEE OR DIE magazine, I interview Michael “Rod” Rodriguez, 21-year Army veteran, former Green Beret and President of the GWOT Memorial Foundation. Rod and his team want to honor GWOT vets, the GWOT fallen, and those who are still in the fight with a memorial on the national mall.
How the Spartan Pledge is Working to Prevent Veteran Suicide
In late October, I had the privilege of attending the 2019 VetXpo in Dallas to cover the event for COFFEE OR DIE magazine. The conference, sponsored by GalantFew, concluded with a moving presentation by Army paratrooper veteran Boone Cutler. Cutler is the author of the “Spartan Pledge” — a battle drill created to help veterans cope with the effects of isolation and depression, which so often lead to suicidal thoughts. I followed up with Boone to learn more about his background and the origin of the Spartan Pledge.
A Wounded Green Beret’s Son is ‘Brave for His Family’
9 year-old Davidson, the son of an active-duty Green Beret, was just 3 when his dad deployed to Afghanistan. I interviewed Davidson and talked about his new children’s book which chronicles the experience.

How Uncanna is Destigmatizing CBD for the Veteran Community
Legal CBD comes from a plant in the cannabis family, but it is not pot. It’s actually harvested from hemp, which offers many proven health benefits. US Army Ranger veteran Coby Cochran is living proof of these benefits. CBD changed his life by helping him break his addiction to multiple substances, including opiates and alcohol. He now owns and operates Uncanna, one of the country’s leading suppliers of quality, laboratory-tested CBD products. In this story, I talk to Coby about his struggle with depression, anxiety, addiction and his experience transitioning out of the army. I cover the history of CBD in the US and discuss Coby’s efforts to convince the DOD to approve CBD use for active military personnel.
